REFLECTION

The inquiry project has taught me many new skills and has sharpened my ability to think critically about a subject. We were asked to come up with a topic, research it, and then add to the conversation. In past English classes, I have not had to think this deep about a topic. I also have not had to come up with something new about this topic. This was very different for me.

I really enjoyed my research about cosmetic plastic surgery. I found out that it is becoming so much more common in children and this surprised me. I continued to look into why this was becoming increasingly popular. There are many contributing factors, but the most common seemed to be regarding a sense of low self-esteem.

In the end, I came up with this to sum up this entire occurrence:

People will never be completely happy with what they have and who they are. They may look for ways to make themselves more appealing and attractive and find happiness in that. However, they will never be completely satisfied. People looking into cosmetic surgery for a higher self-esteem will not find it. A procedure may fix what’s on the outside, but it will never changes what is going on in the inside.
